All about Grass Fed Beef!

Sunday, February 13, 4pm

What?!  Beef is as healthy for you as fish????  No, I can't believe it.  Beef from a sustainable farm that actually improves the environment and reduces the carbon footprint????  No way!

With the exception of butter, no other food has been subjected to such intense demonization in recent years as red meat, particularly beef. The juicy hamburger, that delicious marbled steak and the Sunday roast have been accused of terrible crimes. It's the Beef  by Sally Fallon and Mary Enig of the Weston A. Price Foundation, expose common myths about beef and explain why consuming beef is essential to good health.

If this sounds intriguing, please join us at the home of local rancher John de Bruin of DeyDey's Best Beef Ever, discuss how he became a proponent and rancher of grass-fed beef, the inner-workings of his ranch and sustainable farming practices, the health benefits of grass-fed beef and pastured chicken, and the joy he has found in sharing his passion for healthy food with our community.  Samples of Dey Dey's Best Beef Ever will be provided.

If you plan to attend, please bring a delicious snack to share with others at the meeting.  Please RSVP below or to wapfsantabarbara@gmail.com  so that we can have enough samples and snacks for all to try.  Directions will be provided upon RSVP.

Information Update on Food Safety Bill

Hi Everyone;

There was a lot of information and misinformation and modifications going on regarding the food safety bill last year.  Now that it has been passed, the Weston A. Price Foundation has published an information update on the food safety bill that summarized the final bill and what it means here: Information Update on Food Safety Bill

Our goal next year is to work harder to connect with each other, teach others about real food and where to buy if we want to ensure our rights and availability to food that is local, organic, raw, grass fed and labeled correctly.

The Santa Barbara Chapter of the Weston A. Price Foundation will have their first official meetings at 4pm on the following dates:

  • January 16 - Presentation on Raw Almonds by Fat Uncle Farm
  • February 13 - Presentation on Grass Fed Beef by John De Bruin of Dey Dey's Best Beef Ever
  • March 13 - Presentation on Raw Milk by Organic Pastures Dairy

The location is yet to be determined and the meeting is open to everyone.  We hope to get a head count so if you can email wapfsantabarbara@gmail.com your rsvp, it will help us with the planning.

Lastly we wish you all a happy holiday and to a great new year!
